I’ve always wanted to travel to Japan, the fact that it has the most amazing ski slopes and snow in the world is an added bonus.
We stayed at The Mt Hakuba Backpackers for a week in Hakuba. We got a package deal with the lodge including, breakfast, dinner and daily ski lift passes (a daily lift pass is around $65-70 a day).
The ski resorts we visited were Cortina, Tsugaike Kogen, Iwatake, Happo-One and Hakuba 47.
I suggest getting to the ski resorts as early as possible to enjoy fresh lines which, was one of the best parts of our trip. Fresh lines, perfectly groomed runs and unreal backcountry. The alpine scenery was breathtaking. In short, it was an experience of a lifetime.
We also experienced a range of different ski lifts that included one seaters with no safety bar and hooded chair lifts, mind your head!
Once we left Hakuba we travelled to Mt Fuji, where Tarren popped the question. Stay tuned for the next instalment!
