This is a little off topic for a health and beauty blogger. However, I think it is extremely unhealthy for women to disempower or shame other women and I think we should talk about it.
This is an important topic and outstanding issue that I am passionate about, so I have written this short opinion piece.
“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” – Michelle Obama
It’s in my opinion that we as women, we need to band together to face the obstacles we face each day. Yet I regularly see posts on social media or hear people talking down towards other women. Whether it’s talking about a friend, a colleague or even a celebrity; it is distasteful, unnecessary and we need to recognise this.
Regardless of your religion, body type, sexual preference, or even fashion sense, we are all strong independent women. We need to use our language to build each other up, stand up for what we believe in and remember what Ms. Norbury from Mean Girls taught us.
None of us are perfect, we all have moments when we don’t think before we speak. That’s why it’s important to remind yourself to be a Queen! Spark inspiration, not jealousy or competition.
On International Women’s Day, I posted the below statement on my personal Facebook page. I think it’s important to remember to support each other every day of the year.
Happy International Women’s Day & to celebrating the contributions women make to our world! However, it shouldn’t just be one day a year we celebrate women. Will we just return to normal practice tomorrow? We should celebrate being strong woman & men everyday #beboldforchange #genderequality
So why should women empower other women? When women truely support each other, amazing things can truely happen. It’s always crystal clear who strong women are. They’re the ones you’ll see building each other up, instead of tearing each other down.
I wanted to keep this post short and sweet but please feel free to comment below if you have anything to add, I would love to hear from you.
Share this with your mother, sister, friend, colleague etc to remind them that ‘Empowered Women Empower Women’ ! Practise self love and as Ellen would say “be kind to one another”.
