Ever feel like you need to slow down and take a minute to appreciate the little things in life? Then living a minimalist lifestyle could be for you!
Every day we wake up and go to work to pursue our dreams of becoming bigger and better. However, everything around us is telling us that we need to make more money to spend it on big homes, fancy cars and the latest in fashion and technology. Yet, deep down we know that material objects should have no bearing on our happiness.
This could be the year for you to de-clutter your life and your brain by taking a modern minimalist approach to life. To get you started here are my top 3 tips to start living a minimalist lifestyle.
1. Turn off your Technology
Who isn’t addicted to their phone, computer or tablet these days? Yet, in a world that is so connected by our technology that we have become so disconnected from each other. What ever happened to helping a stranger or simply giving someone a compliment? To start living a more simplistic lifestyle you need to work on putting down your phone and taking in your surroundings. The less dependent you are on technology, the happier you will become!
2. Minimalist Wardrobe
Most of us can probably admit to having more clothes than is necessary. We keep shoes and clothing that we no longer wear or that no longer fit us correctly, in hopes that one day “I’ll fit back into that”. Thus, they continue to take up space in our closet. It’s time to get rid of clothes you don’t wear and donate them to charity. This simple task will make your life and mornings a lot less stressful.
It will leave you with a closet full of clothes you love, will wear and can be proud of! Minimalism means only holding on to a few key pieces that you love. It will also allow you to be more creative with your outfit options.
3. De-clutter your Life
Just like clearing out your wardrobe you need to de-clutter your life. Curating your home to keep what’s important and get rid of unnecessary clutter. Create a minimalistic lifestyle by starting with a minimalistic wardrobe, bedroom, apartment, your makeup and wallet. Acquiring and keeping too many things can actually make us feel overwhelmed; this will help you feel calm in those spaces. Once you start living a more minimalistic lifestyle you’ll have much more room to breathe.
What’s just as important as clearing your home, is clearing your mind. Worrying about things that are out of your control will take up to much of your mental energy. Your energy is much better spent on things you have control over.
I hope these tips help you create a simplistic and stress-free lifestyle. There are different levels of minimalism but it is a beautiful way to live. If you enjoyed this blog show your support by following Anni and Ava.
